ABOUT THE ARTIST

About Me

Hello!

I am a Derbyshire-based artist specialising in realistic, graphite pencil pet portraits.

Ever since I can remember I have always loved drawing, particularly animals. As a child, I would spend hours watching wildlife documentaries, pausing them so I could draw any animal on screen. Art was always my favourite subject throughout school and when I was 18 this led to a full scale wildlife-based art project during my A-Levels where I drew my largest piece yet, a 1.5m by 1m lion.

In 2012 I studied broadcast journalism at the University of Leeds and after graduating worked as a video producer in Australia and later as a radio journalist in the UK. Life became so busy that it took me six years to pick up my pencils again!

I took my first pet portrait commission in December 2018, starting with my friend’s adorable Labrador puppy and have been taking commissions ever since. After nearly two years of  working on pet portraits alongside my media work, it’s time for the exciting launch of my full-time pet portrait business! It brings me so much joy seeing my customers receive their portraits. I love finding out about your pet’s personality and capturing their character, as well as a physical likeness, in a portrait that can be treasured for years to come.
